RED-KNOBBED HORNBILL (2002)

Acrylic on illustration board
10" x 9"

Of all the large Asian hornbills, a group including some of the most spectacular birds, possibly the most beautiful is the red-knobbed hornbill (Aceros cassidix) of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, and four tiny adjacent islets. This is one of five Asian hornbill species known as "wrinkled hornbills" for the casque shape that most of them exhibit.
